Welcome to Blackbird Acres

A New Farmer’s
Honest Journey

We're on a journey to discover what goes into sustainable farming and ethical practices. Join us as we document the process of raising animals, harvesting organic produce, and delivering wholesome food to family tables.

ABOUT BLACKBIRD ACRES

My name is Molly Elliot. I'm a first generation farmer, and I'm at the absolute very start of my journey. How early into it am I? The animals haven't been bought. The barn is still being built. The learning is still to be learned.

But that's why this website exists now and not later. I want to document the journey from the very beginning. I want to show how crops and animals are decided on, how everything is raised and cared for and harvested, and how it all gets to family dinner tables. I want to share tips and tricks I learn and, eventually, how family farms can expand, even in these tough economic times.

As we build, we want to work with farm experts to make Blackbird Acres the best it can be. We want to be transparent, humane, organic, and more. Once we're up and running, we will offer farm tours, sell meat and produce (and farm merch!), and more. Hopefully.

And here's where I'll admit it: I'm an idealistic woman with no experience. I'm working with 230 acres of farmland and a passion—for nature, for reconnection with what makes us human, and the want to make a difference in my community.

Please follow along as Blackbird Acres learns and grows.
